Hunts Run is a HQ-CWF/Class A Wild Trout Stream located in the central
part of The Bucktail Watershed Association was formed in the fall of 2001 and was incorporated and received its nonprofit 501 c3 status in the summer of 2003. It was formed to cover the two watersheds of the First Fork of the Sinnemahoning Creek and the Driftwood Branch of the Sinnemahoning Creek. Our mission states "The Bucktail Watershed Association (BWA) is a concerned group of citizens united to promote wise watershed stewardship for property & stream protection in the Driftwood Branch of the Sinnemahoning and the First Fork." Goals of the BWA include Flood & Erosion Control, to maintain and/or improve stream habitat, to reduce and/or eliminate stream pollution, to promote public awareness & outreach, and to promote recreation and tourism that are in harmony with the goals of the BWA. In the development of a coldwater conservation plan for Hunts Run,
stream walks will be conducted to assess habitat and instability problems,
water samples will be taken and their water quality analyzed by a
laboratory, and an aquatic macroinvertebrate monitoring program will be
initiated on the stream. The data gathered from these sources, as well as
existing data and public input received at public meetings will be used to
develop a coldwater conservation plan. Partners in this project include
